Jobseekers beware! Someone going by the name Jackie Henry with the email JackieHenry@umpire.com is claiming to be a “Regional Recruiter” for a company called Midmark Ltd located in Fleet Hampshire UK. Below is the initial unsolicited recruiting email coming from this email address:

Of course there was no mention of a company name, where they found my resume or what the open positions were in that email. I smelled a job scam so naturally I decided to do a little fishing by replying to it with these questions also commenting about the high salary listed and not providing much else as far as specifics. So then Jackie, or perhaps it was John E Proctor responded with this follow up email:

About the Job
The Billing and Accounting Collections Assistant (BACA) works closely with the sales, billing and accounting departments to ensure all collections efforts made by these departments completed in a timely manner.
Duties of the Billing and Accounting Collections Assistant

Daily

- Accept payments on behalf of Midmark from Midmark’s clients;
- Transfer payments received to Midmark;
- Inform Midmark of overdue or incomplete payments;
- Locate and monitor overdue accounts, from the account database assigned to you by Midmark;
- Record information about status of collection efforts;
- Sort and file correspondence and perform miscellaneous clerical duties, such as answering correspondence and writing reports;
On Demand

- Confer with clients by telephone to determine reasons for overdue or incomplete payments;
- Record information about the financial status of clients;
- Answer client questions regarding problems with their accounts;

Imagine that! A $67K plus a month- work at home job, handling payments and collections etc with full benefits but NO Experience or formal education required?? Just sign the employment agreement-No application, No interview, No drug screen or background check! (even though it was stated there would be!). As always if it sounds too good to be true…trust your instincts and always do your research! 99.9% of the time it’s a scam.
This Scam Is NOT Associated With Midmark!
Midmark is a legitimate company that manufactures medical, dental and veterinary equipment. According to their website, they have several open positions available at many of their locations in different departments and titles. However they DO NOT have ANY work at home positions listed, nor do they have any openings for any Billing and Accounting Collections Assistants.
Midmark’s Main Corporate Office is located in Dayton Ohio with various locations throughout the United States as well as internationally in Europe (UK), India and Italy.
These so-called recruiters (scammers) has merely stolen the credentials of the legitimate company Midmark, in order to lure unsuspecting job seekers into a check fraud/money mule scam!
What To Do If You Are A Victim
If you have fell victim to an employment scam like this, you need to contact your bank immediately and close your account IF you have provided your account information to the scammers. Next file a police report with your local authorities and then file a complaint with the FBI’s internet crime center at http://www.ic3.gov/
If you provided your personal information like ss # birthdate etc , you need to contact the 3 credit bureaus- TransUnion, Equifax and Experian, and place a fraud alert on your report. These criminals can steal your identity and may try and obtain credit in your name. Doing this will alert you for at least 90 days about any suspicious activity.
In the hands of a thief, just your name, address, Social Security number or date of birth, can be used over and over months- even years down the road to:
Open new lines of credit
Seek medical attention
Drain savings and retirement accounts
Provide an alias when arrested
Get a job or file false tax returns
Get Payday Loans in your name
Obtain service agreements for cellular service or utilities
Obtain Government Documents such as a drivers license or passport
And MORE!
