MECFinancialServices.com Virtual Assistant Employment Scam
Caution! A brand new website Mecfinancialservices.com was just registered for one year 12/14/15 to someone using the name Davis Tomas, 2689 Whitetail Lane, Dallas, DK(?) 75247. Registrant Phone: +84.692237007, Registrant Email: tomasedavis@teleworm.us.
+84 is the country calling code for Vietnam and teleworm.us is a disposable email address obtained through a service located at email-fake.com. Hmm why would someone in the US have a phone number in Vietnam and use a fake throwaway email to register a website if they’re running a legitimate business? Why because they aren’t legit, and the registrants name is likely a stolen identity also.
Of course none of the websites registration details match the contact details on the website! 2689 Whitetail Lane isn’t even in Dallas or the Zip Code 75247, it’s actually located in Mesquite, TX 75181! Not sure what state “DK” is supposed to be, but we know Dallas isn’t there!
Here’s a screenshot of the website:
Here’s a screenshot of their contact details showing the business in Jackson Tennessee with an additional address in Glascow Edinburgh:
If you search for MEC Financial Services at 37 Murray Guard Drive, Jackson, TN 38305 ..it doesn’t exist, however there IS a MEC Financial Services located at 30 Meadowlands Cove, Jackson, TN 38305 Phone # (731) 668-3093 NOT (731) 313-7542! And 114 Union St, Glasgow is actually the address for a business called Fineholm Property Management! Therefore it appears none of the contact details shown on the website is legitimate.
Virtual Assistant Employment Scam
So here’s the real purpose of this fake website. If you’ll notice on the screenshot of the website above, there’s a link in the menu that says “Employment”. Click on that link and you’ll see this:
THE ROLE: “Exchange operations”, and “operational tasks for the team located across multiple time zones”! In other words, your “role” will be to accept and cash counterfeit checks or stolen direct deposits in your bank account and withdraw the cash and then wire the cash to the criminals in a foreign country! There is no doubt the job title “Virtual Assistant” in this particular case is actually “Money Mule”!
If you are contacted by someone claiming to represent MEC Financial Services in Jackson Tennessee or Glascow with a job offer, DO NOT respond!
Don’t Be A Money Mule!
If you receive or accept ANY work at home job offer that requires you to cash checks and/or use your own bank account to handle “client” accounts, it’s a scam! A legitimate company will NEVER ask an employee to use their personal bank account or cash checks to handle company business!
What To Do If You Are A Victim
