Why Most Reshipping-Package Forwarding Job Offers Are Fraudulent
Over the last 3 years we have warned our readers about many fake companies offering re-shipping or package forwarding positions working from home. These positions were presented as high paying titles such as Logistic Managers, Package Handlers, Package Managers, Shipping Agents as well as many other “job” titles and every one of these companies we warned our readers about were indeed proven to be scams. But with so many websites online offering shipping services and logistics it can be hard to determine what’s legitimate and what isn’t unless you know what to look for.
Yes it’s true that many retailers in the US will not ship merchandise to many countries outside the US and some won’t even ship to Alaska or Hawaii. Shipping costs, tariffs, taxes, conversion rates and issues with customs holding packages for weeks or customers not receiving their purchases at all is extremely costly and causes too many headaches for retailers and merchant accounts through chargebacks, not to mention the high risk for credit card fraud which is difficult to trace overseas. All issues that can potentially cost businesses millions of dollars, so retailers simply choose not to accept international purchases.
Because of this fact, there has been hundreds of “businesses” created to allow overseas buyers a way to purchase items from retailers in the US that they either can’t get in their country, or the item is a much lower cost than they can find in their country even with the additional costs these businesses charge for their services. Some of these Legitimate reshipping businesses include Shipito, Stackry, MyUS, Vyking Ship and Shopfans, just to name a few. These companies operate from a legitimate registered business address complete with warehousing and can be easily verified as legitimate along with real reviews both good and bad from real customers who use them .
But the problem is while there are some legitimate businesses offering these services such as those mentioned above, MANY reshipping businesses are not real and are operated by criminals because they realize they can utilize this “service” as an easy way to launder stolen credit card information to obtain electronics and other high dollar merchandise that can easily be sold for cash and can’t be traced back to the criminals.
These fake businesses use unverifiable or virtual business addresses, are NOT legally registered, has confusingly vague info with little to no online presence or history other than their website and can NOT be verified as legitimate! Some will actually use the business name of a one time legitimate unrelated business that is either currently or no longer in business and they have been known to create a fraudulent online presence/history through fake blogs creating backdated articles about the business in order to appear legitimate.
Reshipping scams has proven to be an extremely profitable and evergreen online business for these criminals because when one fake website gets shut down, they can simply throw up another website within in a day and some even operate multiple websites under different business names at the same time! However, they would NOT be able to successfully pull their scam off without willing participants in place to help them!
And those willing participants are the unsuspecting job seekers in the US that accept the fake Logistic Manager and Shipping agent etc. work at home positions the scammers offer to them!
Careerbuilder And Other Job Board Sites
These criminals typically scrape the email addresses of job seekers with resumes posted on job sites such as CareerBuilder, Indeed, Monster.com and others. Then they go phishing by pretending to be recruiters and send out emails to these job seekers with high paying part time job offers trying to get them to take the bait.
For example, one reader recently received 4 emails the same day from a “recruiter” claiming to be an HR Manager of an international shipping company using the name Mrs. Monica L. Salgado. All 4 emails were sent from different email addresses with different “reply to” email addresses as shown below:
chisako815@i.softbank.jp
reply to: Shar.onLer.oy.320@gmail.com
koen@diepmeeren.be
reply to: Sha.r.onL.e.r.oy.3.20@gmail.com
miltmirand@ig.com.br
reply to: Sh.a.ron.Le.roy.3.20@gmail.com
linda.laferriere@cssmi.qc.ca
reply to: kiudslo@mail.ru
The initial email showed up in their inbox and then an hour or so later a follow up email came through. Then several hours later another email similar to the first one came through with another follow up email an hour later:

About GVS Logistics
The domain, gvsl-group.com was registered anonymously on 1/20/2017 for 1 year only. The website lists its business address, which of course cannot be verified as a legitimate address, as:
GVS Logistics
Derbenevskaya Naberezhnaya, 7C2
142057, Moscow, Russia
+7 495 5317591
They are aggressively recruiting people to work from home in the US as a “Correspondence Manager” accepting packages sent to their home address under someone else’s name from retailers where the “employee” then prints out a different shipping label and re-ships the package to yet a third party!
Therefore if the purchase proves to be fraudulent the shipping address the retailer will report to the authorities will be the “Correspondence Managers”, not the 3rd party receiver and certainly not GVS Logistics because the company is fake! The scammer gets away with the merchandise PLUS the employees personal information they can use months and years later to steal the employee’s identity!
Legitimate reshipping companies such as the businesses we listed previously, DOES NOT recruit employees by sending out unsolicited emails, nor do they hire re-shippers to work at home forwarding packages. They hire employees face to face at their hiring facility and the employees WORK at the companies facilities!
So don’t be fooled by the scammers and their BS! Some are very good at convincing people into believing they are legitimate. They lure their victims in with the promise of a “too good to be true salary” for part-time hours but as so many victims has already learned the hard way..they never receive a dime and many times end up with a visit from the police for receiving stolen goods!
What To Do If You Are A Victim
You can visit the USPIS website here for more details about re-shipping fraud.
If you believe you’re a victim of a re-shipping/forwarding scam, file a complaint with Postal Inspectors online or call Postal Inspectors at 1-877-876-2455 (option 4, Mail Fraud).
You will need to contact your bank immediately and close your account IF you have provided your account information to the scammers. Next file a police report with your local authorities and also report the scam at http://ic3.gov which is the official site working in conjunction with the FBI to help stop internet crime.
If you provided your personal information like ss # birthdate etc , you should contact the 3 credit bureaus- TransUnion, Equifax and Experian, and place a fraud alert on your report. These criminals can steal your identity and may try and obtain credit in your name. Doing this will alert you for at least 90 days about any suspicious activity.
In the hands of a thief, just your name, address, Social Security number or date of birth, can be used over and over months- even years down the road to:
Open new lines of credit
Seek medical attention
Drain savings and retirement accounts
Provide an alias when arrested
Get a job or file false tax returns
Get Payday Loans in your name
Obtain service agreements for cellular service or utilities
Obtain Government Documents such as a drivers license or passport
And MORE!
That’s why I highly recommend you get some sort of ongoing identity theft protection such as the services offered through companies like LifeLock-Visit Their Website Here or Identity Force-visit their website here! LifeLock and Identity Force are both reputable companies that monitors your accounts and alerts and protects you from identity theft.
